The remaking of an H&M fitness armband from an sustainable development perspective.
H&M

The goal of this project was to make an as sustainable product as possible without making it less functional.

The fitness armband was made out of 12 different components and 8 diffrent materials.

Sketching process

The first ideation was to make the shape and function of the fitness armband very simpel and straight forward. The main focus was to make it from 100% biological materials.

The other idea was to make a braclet that would be more of an extention of the phone and use a closedloop system.

The idea of an clasp on the side to hold the phone and display the screen was something I wanted to stick with, the modern phone is for the most part waterresistant or waterproof so this would take away uneseccary parts and materials.
Prototyping process
I started to lasercut some simple mockups to get a feel of size and shape.

Building 3D-model.

3D-printing

Cardboard mockups of textile piece
In the end, I stopped having the textile all the way around the arm and instead attached it only to the two clips. This to use less material and minimize spill.
The final design of the fitness armband.
